setbacksLaSalle County’s current Setback Ordinance was developed and adopted in 1966 and most recently amended in 1996. This Ordinance establishes minimum setback requirements for buildings and construction along roadways within the County. The Department enforces setback requirements for buildings and structures in the County (70 ft-Twp Roads, 85 ft-County Roads, 100 ft-State Roads). The setback is assessed from the center of the roadway.

In April 2006, LaSalle County implemented a Zoning Ordinance which established “side yard” and “rear yard” setbacks in addition to the front yard setbacks that have been in place since the 1960’s. These requirements must be met for any new construction occurring in the unincorporated areas of the County. Setback Application
