Time is money! So, considering not only the savings in postage or other courier and possible rejection costs, but also the time involved in this and the whole document preparation and recording process, e-recording just makes sense.
The LaSalle County Recorder’s Office accepts e-recording through five different services;
Indecomm Global services (www.indecomm.net/eRecording.aspx)
Nationwide Title Clearing (info.nwtc.com/service-erecording)
Ingeo (CSC) (www.erecording.com)
eRecording Partners (ePN) (new.erecordingpartners.net/GOePN)
Online Record Searching
There are three ways to search for records online. Laredo and Tapestry each provide actual document images while Direct Search only provides very basic information about the documents. When searching, please keep a few very basic search tips in mind:
- When searching by a document number that incorporates the year of recording, enter the document number with the FULL year and remove any other prefixes(i.e., enter R2003-67890 as 2003-67890, or R95-67890 as 1995-67890)
- When searching by lot/block of a subdivision, remove any “plural” indicators or prefix/initials in the subdivision name (i.e., enter “States Addition” simply as “State”, or “J.D.Byers Addition” simply as “Byer”)
- When searching by name, enter the last name, comma, and the first couple of letters of the first name (i.e., “Charles Smith” should be entered as “Smith, Ch”). This will increase the search results and reduce missed documents due to entry errors.
Laredo is an account-based internet program designed for users who would like online access to LaSalle County land records on a regular basis. Laredo’s innovative technology and 24-hour access to LaSalle County’s land records allows you to search efficiently for records in the same way you would search at a computer in the Recorder’s office. Documents can be searched by name, recorded date range, document type, document number, address, and/or legal description. The search will display all computer indexed information (currently back to about 1979) for each document in a very versatile results window in which you can group and order search results as desired and view images.
For more information on the cost of utilizing Laredo, and to sign up for a subscription, please contact the LaSalle County Recorder’s office at 815-434-8226. Once a subscription has been set up, you can download Laredo at www.fidlar.com/Laredo.aspx. Select “Illinois” in the “Choose a State” field, select “LaSalle” in the “Choose a County” field then click on the “Download” button. The program will download to your computer and a “Laredo” icon will be created on your computer desktop.
Tapestry is an on-demand service designed for occasional searchers who may not search frequently enough to warrant a subscription to Laredo. Tapestry usage is paid per search (utilizing a credit card) and each search includes the ability to view images at no additional charge (there is an additional fee to print the images). No user agreement is required.
Tapestry includes the capability to search by name, document number, recording date range, and legal description. Utilizing Tapestry, searchers can also access data and images from hundreds of participating counties. You can access Tapestry at www.landrecords.net.
DirectSearch is an easy-to-use internet program that provides the capability to search for land record documents in LaSalle County at no cost. Documents can be searched by name, recorded date range and document type. The search will display all recorded information for each document back to July 1982. No images are available through DirectSearch. You can access DirectSearch at https://il4laredo.fidlar.com/ILLaSalle/DirectSearch/index.html.
There are now two paths to obtaining certified copies of documents. They can still be purchased by coming to the Office of the LaSalle County Recorder, but if that’s not an option, you can now order them online by clicking on the button below.
